A Work in Progress

Impulsive rambling of a Calgary graduate nurse, serial degree collector, tea enthusiast, and lover of general geekery. I post things that relax and resonate with this often scattered brain.

This weekend was amazing. My body is destroyed. Yesterday afternoon a barrier meant to block parade traffic fell over and landed on my foot. I ignored it and proceeded to spend the rest of the day and night walking and dancing on shoes that I’m well aware give me blisters and all kinds of pain every time I wear them. Today my foot is bruised, swollen and incredibly sore. Lesson learned. When injured, find ice, not tight and unforgiving heels.

That being said, I had a great time. I ran into so many friends at the parade and the drag show, and made some hilarious memories. The night ended as all epic adventures do, with questionable Chinese food at 3 in the morning. I went to bed feeling every bit as silly as my irresponsible 18-year-old self, with the added bonus of having fantastic friends and a stable home situation to return to. Things really couldn’t get much better.

Today I spent the gift certificate I won in a game at Destiny’s bridal shower on an expensive but delicious tea from Teavana that I’ve been denying myself for quite some time. Then I had a three-hour nap.

My body is in pain and will surely punish me for this weekend, but I couldn’t be happier.

Feeling shitty today.

I’m not sure if I’m getting sick or if my body just hates me again.

Time to scroll endlessly through tasty looking recipes online and think about baked goods instead of the various reasons I feel totally useless to society today.
